Our Team

We proudly support The Midwives Model of Care™ and physiological birth, which is rooted in the belief that pregnancy and birth are natural life processes.

Our Approach.

Our approach focuses on monitoring the physical, psychological, and social well-being of each mother throughout the childbearing journey. We provide personalized education, counseling, and prenatal care, along with continuous, hands-on support during labor and delivery, and comprehensive postpartum care. By minimizing unnecessary technological interventions and carefully identifying when obstetrical care is needed, we strive to create a safe, mother-led empowering birth experience that reduces the need for medical intervention and trauma.

PELVIC FLOOR THERAPIST

Liz Martin, PT, DPT, MTC, CMTPT

Liz’s favorite part about being a birth worker is spending time with other women and moms. She finds it a privilege to walk through such an intimate, transformational time with them,as it was a period of her own life that she experienced so much change, growth, and highs and lows. She appreciates how sacred it is and she enjoys helping to empower other women, helping them feel seen, heard, and supported. After earning her BS in Kinesiology from UVA in 2009, Liz went on to her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree (DPT) degree from University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences in 2011. Next came her Manual Therapy Certification (MCT) in 2012, and she continued with dry needling certification (CMPT), and started her pelvic floor therapy courses in 2016. In 2019, she started the Mama PT Instagram page and opened her business in 2020.

BIRTH ASSISTANT

BIRTH ASSISTANT

Amanda Warring

Amanda loves to witness a mom and dad’s love as they experience birthing together, watching it grow and evolve through the birth of their child. “I had two home births, my first was very hard and I was under-prepared, but for my second one I was mentally prepared and it was a better experience.” As her interest in the birthing process grew, Amanda listened to her friends’ birth stories and knew she could help. She became a doula, and is continuing the journey in nursing school with the goal of becoming a Certified Nurse Midwife.

Amanda earned her doula certification in 2022 through Birthworker Academy, and is currently attending Averett University. Freedom Birth Company is Amanda’s birth and postpartum doula business serving the Hampton Roads area. Amanda is a former Marine Corps Officer and SCMC home birth client.
